Look for updates coming soon.  The wiki has been reconfigured and is now working and has two good info pages on it (Power & Light district tenants and a retail resource guide for downtown residents.)

Look for more soon....looking for any recommendations...just leave comments to this if you have any suggestions.

Walking to the Sprint Center E-mail

Del.icio.us!

On the KCRag forum, there are already people complaining about parking for the Sprint Center . These people have no problems parking the equivelant of 10 blocks away at Kauffman stadium or Arrowhead but post how it will be an issue to walk 3 blocks from a garage to the Sprint Center. They cite issues such as fear from a family of 4 walking to Disney on Ice.

Is there anything more humorous than people not familiar with downtwon moaning about parking? Anybody with any knowledge of downtown knows parking is more abundant than anything downtown. Not to mention two HUGE parking garages were just built underneath the Power & Light district just for this reason. Parking is honestly the last concern for anybody coming downtown for an event at the Sprint Center.

People will be parking all over these garages for events at the Sprint Center...it won't be this scary empty urban area that some are trying to make it out to be.

The best part of these people's posts is these are the same ones that whine about KCMO screwing up by renovating Kauffman instead of building a downtown baseball stadium. Where do these people think fans going to a downtown baseball stadium would park....answer? In these same parking garages blocks away that they are whining about parking at for the Sprint Center.

People. It's time to get familiar with downtown...it's not the same as the one you remember from the time you attended the Auto Show in 1994. There are shops, residents, restaurants, and attractions open or to be open when you are attending your next event at the Sprint Center. The 3 block (max) walk you'll be taking won't be a scary experience if you are unfamiliar with downtown, it will be an eye opening experience to how much downtown has changed. Heck, go pick up some ice cream with your kids beforehand....they will remember these experiences forever. I can still remember some of my first visits to downtown....great memories.

Got to love spring in the city E-mail

Del.icio.us!

There is nothing better than walking around KC in the spring time.  All the office bees are out walking with their skirts and tennis shoes, people are in the pocket parks eating an extended lunch, and this year there is more construction to catch up on than anybody can keep track of.

Walking around, you can catch a glimpse of the Power & Light district being finished up, the Sprint Center and NABC museum, and little things like the new Aladdin hotel opening in May.

For those of you not working downtown, take a day off or an extended lunch and head downtown and just walk around.  Everywhere you turn there is a new building going up, reconstruction of an old building being done, or improvements to the city sidewalks and streetscapes.

It's really an exciting time to be downtown.

Del.icio.us!

Welcome to the new KCSkyscrapers.com.  This blog is the first in many new improvements to the website.  This blog will be a periodic update of KC Development news as I see them.

Along with the development blog, there is now a Development wiki that users may update.  Contact me to gain access to edit the wiki.  A select number of users will be permitted to update the wiki.  You can contact me via the "Contact Us" link on the left side or via the kcrag forum.

The new Content Management System allows for easy addition and changing of information.  It hopefully makes a cleaner look as well.

Look around and tell me what you think.  Please use the thread in the KC Rag forum to give impressions and suggestions.

Thanks for  stopping by.
